Les Simulies ont été collectées, par l'appât humain pour les mouches adultes et pour les larves par le ramassage sur les bois morts, le feuillage et la végétation aquatique dans l'eau douce au courant rapide. les nasses ont été également utilisées pour la collecte de crabes qui ont à leurs pattes postérieures de larves de Simulim neavei.
