452 spécimens de Barbus candens, capturés dans le ruisseau AMAKASA - MPOYO à Masako (Kisangani), de janvier 1988 à avril 1989, ont été examinés pour l'étude de la biologie de réproduction.De cette étude, les résultats suivants ont été observés:
- La taille moyenne de maturité sexuelle est de 19 mm de longueur standard chez les mâles, et de 18,1 mm de longueur standard chez les femelles;
- Pour le sex-ratio observé, il y a prédominance des femelles sur les mâles;
- Barbus candens est un poisson qui se réproduit pendant toute i'année, avec plusieurs pontes espacées. Il y a une corrélation positive entre la fécondité et la taille ainsi que le noids des poissons.
