Cette étude porte sur les caractéristiques vocales du martin chasseur Halcyon senegalensis aux étangs du scolasticat Père Léon Dehon à Kisangani (RD Congo).
Le matériel d'étude est constitué d’un échantillon de 412 cris du martin chasseur enregistrés sur le terrain dans le but de les inventorier et d’en interpréter la signification.
Les résultats obtenus après la numérisation et l'analyse statistique montrent que le martin chasseur produit au moins 4 différentes formes ou types de cris exprimant un comportement donné : La territorialité, l’alarme, la parade, la chasse et le stress. Selon le temps et les circonstances de la journée, ces 4 types de cris diffèrent entre eux par leurs sonogrammes et leurs paramètres vocaux. (fréquence temps)
