Le Bassin du Congo, avec 1,9 million de km2 compte parmi les plus grandes forêts denses humides en continu au monde et pourvoit à la subsistance des millions d’individus, dont la plupart dépendent des ressources naturelles pour survivre (White et Edwards, 2001).Les forêts tropicales humides sont des écosystèmes dont la variété des niches écologiques qu’on y rencontre et les diverses interactions qui s’y établissent d’une part entre les espèces et d’autre part entre ces espèces et leur environnement, rend ce milieu complexe (Lisingo,2009).
