Une enquête ethnobotanique réalisée à Kisangani et ses environs a permis de recenser 87 espèces des plantes consomées par le cobaye, le lapin et porc.
Au total 176 rations ont été obtenues : le cobaye, 77 plantes (43, 75%); le lapin 63 plantes (35,80%) et le porc 36 plantes (20,45%).
Les relevés réalisés dans 10 stations nous ont permis d'apprécierl'abondance dominance de 49 plantes et l'espèce Panicum maximum consommée par les trois groupes d'animaux était présente dans tous les relevés.
Ces plantes sont généralement rudérales, thérophytes provenant des formations herbacées à distribution pantropicale. La tige feuillée est l'organe le plus utilisé par ces trois groupes d'animaux.
Sur 87 espèces recensées, 50 sont citées comme plantes alimentaires pour la première fois.
