En Afrique Centrale, les forêts denses humides font l’objet d’une exploitation intensive de bois d’œuvres. Ce prélèvement sélectif orienté principalement sur les quelques essences, ne
s’accompagne d’aucune mesure en faveur de renouvellement des effectifs exploités (Boyemba,2006). Alors que la gestion durable de ces ressources forestières est essentielle ; car elle fournit des richesses uniques et inestimables telles que les plantes médicinales qui pourraient s’avérer extrêmement précieuses pour la recherche médicinale, la réduction des émissions des sols en ralentissant des raies d’eau (Shand, 1993).
