Une étude a éte menée à Kisangani, en RD Congo, avec l'objectif majeur de mesurer la productivité primaire et la structure spatiale de l'enracinement des jachères-herbages agro forestières de type "culture en assiettes sous tapis vert" (ATV), tout en dévoilant les avantages agro écologiques éventuels présentés face aux jachère-pâturages spontanées issues de la culture itinérante sur brulis faisant la règle en région équatoriale et intertropicale africaine.
Pour y parvenir, un essai a été conduit suivant un dispositif de recherche stratifié ayant 16 blocs randomisés complets de 4 parcelles chacun et reparties sur huit secteurs esxpérimentaux établis une moitié en amont et l'autre en aval du bassin versant.
